Using Low Volume Production To Fix Assembly Line Issue

Our Low Volume Production Offering Helped One Customer Avoid A Potential Recall

One of our loyal customers contacted us for help when they began experiencing a quality issue on their assembly line. After many trials and testing, it was determined that a small plastic part would need to be added to their assembly to fix the problem and avoid a potential recall. In only 5 business days, we were able to build a tool capable of making production quality parts for prototype level pricing.

The Problem

When this customer became aware of a quality issue on their assembly line, they needed to act fast to correct it. It was determined that a small plastic part would need to be added to their assembly in order to prevent the issue from occurring in the field and demanding a recall.

The Goal

Our goal was to quickly develop and produce the production parts which would fix the problem without requiring them to purchase a new production mold.

Our Strategy

Initially this started as a quick turnaround prototype so they could test the part that would fix the issue. After we reviewed the fact that our tools are capable of handling hundreds of thousands of parts, this prototype build turned into small production.

The Result

In only 5 business days we were able to build a tool capable of making production quality parts for prototype level pricing. 3 weeks later we had already produced over 100,000 parts and look to make approximately 100,000 more. This goes to show that it pays to work with a prototyping company that will have your back in a crisis!
