The Anatomy Of A Mojo Box

Nov 7, 2019

Mojo-box-png-revThe Mojo Box has long been an icon of the Engineering Resource Center. This funky creation is a marketing design aid that we developed years ago to show off our advanced capabilities in tool building and injection molding.

At first glance, many people assume it's a 3D printed part. But that's not the case! This fun part was designed by our engineers in only 1 day and the build only took our toolmakers 6 business days to complete. Watch this video to see the entire process!

The Mojo Box shows the following complexities that our unique prototype tooling provides:

  • Shutoffs
  • Side actions
  • Hot tip gate
  • Sharp corners
  • Text
  • Polish

Since most prototyping companies use aluminum molds and nix complicated design features to manufacture prototypes quickly, these features are usually compromised during prototype builds. The Mojo Box proves that it is possible to get a production-quality prototype without compromising any design features.

Aside from the technical aspects, our mojo boxes make a great desk toy to fidget around with. Want one for your desk? You can request one by mail or check our trade show calendar to see where you can get one!
