Is High Quality, Low Cost Always Too Good To Be True?

Jul 30, 2019

Sometimes it doesn't make sense when a company offers something high quality for a very low price. We are all conditioned to be skeptical because if it seems too good to be true, it usually is. There is almost always a catch when it comes to getting a cheap price. With ordering plastic injection molded prototypes, it's usually one of the following:

  1. Aluminum tooling.
  2. Nixing important design features.
  3. Manufactured overseas.

At The Engineering Resource Center, we operate by the phrase "your design, no compromises". We don't use aluminum. We don't buy cheap steel. We make parts to the exact detailed specifications on their design files. But if most other companies can't do it without a catch, how do we?

The reason most companies don't offer what we offer is because we had the benefit of investing from the start. We took a chance by purchasing a large amount of steel upfront so that all of our future customers would only have to pay for the portion of the tool they need. Our team designed different sizes of injection mold bases with all of the features you'd expect in a production tool. We call it our Modular Tooling System.

Since those features are incorporated into the mold base, the only thing our toolmakers have to do for your project is make your mold in a much smaller block of steel that can be fit into the appropriate mold base. This cuts out thousands of dollars and shortens lead time significantly, without nixing any design features like you would have to with a rapid prototype. Plus, it gives you the option to use the same exact tool to produce small volumes of your actual production parts if you need parts before you're ready to invest in a production mold.

The Modular Tooling System is the core of what makes The ERC different and we're proud to be able to offer a solution that truly gives you your design without any compromises. We'd love to help you out with your plastic prototypes, so don't hesitate to contact us for a quote anytime!
