The Engineering Resource Center Helps Manufacturer Avoid Major Recall

Background and Goals
 
While we focus mainly on prototypes here at The ERC, we recently worked with a customer who was experiencing a quality issue on their assembly line. After many trials and testing, it was determined that a small plastic part would need to be added to their assembly in order to prevent the issue from occuring in the field and demanding a recall. 
 

Strategy

This customer came to us for assistance based on our successful prototype builds for them in the past. Initially this started as a quick turnaround prototype so they could test their product. However, after we reviewed the fact that our tools are capable of handling hundreds of thousands of parts, this prototype build turned into small production. And it did not cost a penny more or take any more time. 

Results

In only 5 business days we were able to build a tool capable of making production quality parts for prototype level pricing. In the time since that build (roughly three weeks) we have produced over 100,000 parts and we look to make approximately 100,000 more.
 

Impact

The aggressive lead times and effective pricing we provide not only help with up front design and launches, but can also help get customers out of jams.
